Face it, when you’re just beginning with dropshipping your budget might be tight. That’s why you probably can’t afford to spend money on the wrong Shopify apps. Keep reading, and you will find out what the 12 best Shopify apps are for when you’re just beginning with dropshipping. I will give you a free option and a paid option with each app.

The List of the 12 Best Shopify Apps for Dropshipping Beginners

Let’s begin with the best Shopify apps to have for your dropshipping store when you’re just beginning. Of course, these apps are also awesome if you have already started your dropshipping store!

I will give you a free option and a paid option with each app.

If your money is tight then free apps are the best thing to have when you’re just beginning. You don’t want to waste most of your budget on fancy apps “that could boost conversions”.

What you want to do is start slow.

Have the best free apps first and then after you get some sales, or when your budget allows it, you could add more paid apps.

These paid apps could help you get more sales or increase something like the average order value!

1. Processing Dropshipping Orders

Best Shopify app for dropshipping beginners 1: Processing Dropshipping Orders

To start off this list, you need to have an app that processes your dropshipping orders.

You can do this without any app, but ask your self if you want to manually enter your customer’s information each time you get a new order.

There are apps out there that will help you automate most of this. You can press the order bottom and then the app will automatically fill in all the information of your customer.

The only thing then left for you to do is to press pay, and even that can be automated later on. If you want to!

The free Shopify app option

The free Shopify app that most people start with is Oberlo.

You can dropship with this app from AliExpress and their own network of worldwide suppliers.

Best Shopify App For Dropshipping Beginners: Oberlo
Source: Oberlo -- Shopify App Store

If you have less then 50 orders per month, then the price is free. The moment when you reach more than 50 orders per month, then you need to pay for Oberlo.

At this moment that is $29.90 for a maximum of 500 orders per month or $79.90 for unlimited orders.

If you don’t want to dropship from AliExpress, then another option is Spocket.

Spocket lets you dropship thousands of products from European and US suppliers!

Pricing plans at Spocket currently start at just $9 per month and they offer a 14-day free trial for each plan.

In case you want to learn more about Spocket, their pricing, and how to get a fast delivery time on your dropshipping store, then I suggest reading my article here.

The paid Shopify app option

If you’re dropshipping from AliExpress, then Dropified is one of the best choices.

Best Shopify App For Dropshipping Beginners: Dropified
Screenshot of their homepage

One of the great benefits of Dropified is that you can get cashback when you’re dropshipping with AliExpress. You can click here to learn more.

The price of Dropified for one store is currently $47 per month and is cheaper if you pay annually.

If you’re not dropshipping from AliExpress, then an app you can try (they have a 1-day trial) is Importify.

Currently, they support:

AliExpress, Amazon, Alibaba, Etsy, Chinabrands, Banggood, Dhgate, Walmart, Wish, 1688, Rakuten, Gearbest, Lightinthebox, Miniinthebox, Dropinthebox, Taobao, Tmall, Tmart, Overstock, Costco, Dealextreme, Snapdeal, Flipkart, Sears, Geekbuying, Sammydress, Shein, Tomtop, Fasttech, Allstarhealth, Rosewholesale, Opticsplanet, Buyincoins, Shineon, Kohls, Jd, DropshipperUS, Fasttech, Lazada, Wonify, Bonanza, LTD commodities, ioffer.

Yes, that’s a lot! Go check their app on the Shopify App store to see what they currently support!

The price of Importify is currently starting at $14.95 and depends on what platforms you’re going to use.

If you want to see more examples, then I suggest reading 14 Awesome Oberlo Alternatives (Order Processing Apps) written by me!

Which Shopify app to choose when you’re just beginning with dropshipping?

This decision is all yours. It all depends on what kind of dropshipping you’re doing.

If you’re dropshipping from AliExpress, then I suggest sticking with Oberlo until you’re getting some consistent sales. Don’t worry you can also get cashback with Oberlo, but you will need to be a paying customer.

That moment that your budget is getting bigger and you’re getting more and more consistent sales, then switching to Dropified could be a great choice for you!

But if you’re dropshipping from European or US suppliers, then sticking with the same app (like Spocket) could be the best choice for you.

2. Sales Notifications (Social Proof)

Best Shopify app for dropshipping beginners 2: Sales Notifications

A great way to boost the trust of your visitors is to have sales notifications popping up.

These notifications have information about past sales on them.

The theory behind these apps is that your visitors will have more trust in your store if they see that other people are purchasing your products.

For example:

Source: Inspire Uplift

Some apps even allow you to have “fake past orders” this way you can still use the app even if you didn’t have any sales yet.

Although, before you decide to use sales notifications you need to decide if you like it or not. Some people find it quite annoying when stuff keeps popping up on their screen.

If you really don’t know if you should add it to your store or not, then you could always split test and see if people are staying longer on your store with or without these notifications.

The free Shopify app option

The best free Shopify app for this is Sales pop by Beeketing. This is the app that most people use on their dropshipping store.

Best Shopify App For Dropshipping Beginners: Sales pop
Screenshot of their homepage

I do have a big tip for you: If you don’t want the ‘By Beeketing’ trademark anymore, then simply go to this question on their site and see their answer!

The paid Shopify app option

In case you want more options on the sales notifications, then I suggest something like this app.

Show recent orders popups dashboard - social proof conversion
Source: Show Recent Orders -- Shopify App Store

With this app, you have way more options on how the sales notifications are shown.

Think about stuff like the color, what kind of text and even the size.

Currently, the price of this Shopify app starts at $4.99 per month.

Which Shopify app to choose when you’re just beginning with dropshipping?

If you want sales notifications on your dropshipping store and you don’t need that many editing options, then I suggest sticking with the free app from Beeketing.

Don’t forget that you can remove the watermark if you want!

3. Countdown Timer (Urgency)

Best Shopify app for dropshipping beginners 3: Countdown Timer

If you want to create a sense of urgency for your visitors, then having a countdown timer on your product description is great.

For example:

Source: Gadgetox

In case you don’t know if you should use urgency, then Core dna got you covered:

There is nothing that kills eCommerce conversion rates faster than customer hesitation. Anytime a customer thinks “maybe later”, you open the window to a sale-killing distraction -- an offer from a competitor, a phone notification, or even a change of heart.

There is one way to get shoppers to take action immediately: urgency.

Core dna

The free Shopify app option

The best free Shopify app option for this is again an app from Beeketing.

As I said above, don’t forget that you can get the watermark removed.

The paid Shopify app option

In case you want to do way more with your countdown timer, then I suggest taking this app called Hurrify.

Best Shopify App For Dropshipping Beginners: Hurrify
Source: Hurrify -- Shopify App Store

You will have way more options on what kind of campaign you want to hold and what kind of design you want!

The price of this Shopify app is currently $6.99 per month.

Which Shopify app to choose when you’re just beginning with dropshipping?

This is basically the same as with the sales notifications. The free Beeketing version is great, but if you want more options, then I suggest having the paid app. In this case: Hurrify.

Furthermore, if you’re just beginning and you don’t have any sales yet, then the free Beeketing countdown timer is good enough.

That moment though that you’re getting sales or when your budget allows it, then I suggest switching to an app like Hurrify.

So that you have way more options on how it’s going to look like and what kind of scarcity or urgency you’re going to use.

4. Currency Converter

Best Shopify app for dropshipping beginners 4: Currency Converter

This is a must-have if you plan on selling in multiple countries.

Selling in multiple countries means having visitors that are used to different currencies.

You don’t want to lose these potential new customers, right?

Well… What do you think happens if they go off your site and try to calculate the price in their home currency?

Yes, indeed then there is a high chance that they may never return.

Maybe they got distracted or maybe they can’t find your store back anymore.

There are a lot of things that could happen when you let your visitors calculate the prices in their home currency by them self.

So what can you do?

You need to have a currency converter on your dropshipping store. This way the price of the products will automatically be displayed in the local currency of the visitor!

For example, as you can see in the images below, you can select USD and EUR (and other currencies). They will then show the price in that currency!

Source: ThemGadgets

Two things with this example:

  • When I was on the site they didn’t automatically change the currency to EUR. I needed to do it manually. Which is, of course, an option that you could do on your store as well. If you want to!
  • The rounding is a bit weird. You can see the Euro price is rounded at .52 this looks a bit weird don’t you think?

The free Shopify app option

The best free currency converter Shopify app is Bold Multi-Currency.

Shopify multi currency app
Source: Bold Multi-Currency -- Shopify App Store

The great thing about this app is that you can add rounding rules.

For example, this way it would say $4.60 instead of $4.56.

Multi-Currency rounding & vanity pricing

That’s of course, an option to do. You can also just leave the price without any rounding if you prefer that!

The only downside is that you need to add the currencies yourself, plus you need to add rounding rules for every currency you add.

Nice thing is that it will automatically detect your customer’s location and then it will show your prices in their local currency (if you have added that currency, as I said above).

The paid Shopify app option

The best-paid Shopify currency converter app is this one.

Best Shopify App For Dropshipping Beginners: Best Currency Converter
Source: Best Currency Converter -- Shopify App Store

This app got everything that you want from a currency converter. Just take a look at their app in the Shopify app store. You will see all the features that you will get!

If you want all the features then it’s currently $9.95 per month. I will explain below why the free option of this app might not be the best choice for you.

Which Shopify app to choose when you’re just beginning with dropshipping?

I suggest, just like the apps above, to pick the best free Shopify app first. In this case the Bold Multi-Currency.

Yes, the paid currency converter has a free option as well, but the reason I didn’t select that as the best free app as well is that it won’t automatically convert the price to the visitor’s local currency. It will only do that with the paid version of the app! Plus you can only add up to 5 currencies with the free version.

5. Reviews (Social Proof)

Best Shopify app for dropshipping beginners 5: Reviews

Another great way to increase the trust your new visitors have with you is to have reviews from past customers displayed on your dropshipping store.

These reviews can be displayed on your product pages.

Source: Inspire Uplift

Or they can be used as a big review page with all the reviews from all the products you have.

Source: Life Booster Shop

Having reviews is great, but having reviews with pictures is even better!

Definitely, if these pictures have your customer with the product displayed in it.

That builds way more trust than having nothing or having just a few lines with something like “this is a great product”.

Reviews when just beginning with dropshipping

But what if you’re just beginning and you still want reviews on your dropshipping store?

If you decided that you want customer reviews on your product pages and you’re just beginning, then here are a few options what you can do:

  • Free product. Give away the product in exchange for a review. Although, keep in mind that they can just take the offer and never give a review. A way to deal with this is to give a discount or their money back after they have placed a review.
  • Import Reviews. If you’re dropshipping from AliExpress, then you could decide to import the reviews from the product that you’re going to dropship. This way you will have reviews that are basically for the same product. You just need to make the decision if you want that or not.
  • Wait for customers. The last option is to just wait until you have customers. Send them an email, via your email marketing campaign, asking if they like the product and if they could add a review. You can also give them a reward so that they are more likely to review your product, something like a discount code.

I got one last tip for you regarding reviews.

If you don’t have any reviews on a product yet, then it’s better to disable the reviews star rating for that product. If that’s possible with your review app.

This way your visitors won’t see something like ‘no reviews’. This could do the opposite as what a normal review would have done.

They could think that they are the first visitor in your store. You don’t want to risk that, right?

The free Shopify app option

If you’re just beginning, then you probably won’t have that many customers yet.

That’s why having a paid review app is not that important yet, because you will not have that many past customers that you can ask for reviews.

The best free Shopify review app is the Product Reviews app from Shopify.

This app got everything for you if you want to start accepting reviews on your dropshipping store.

The only downside is that you can’t have pictures in these reviews.

Bonus tip: If you want to import reviews from AliExpress, but don’t want to pay for a paid Shopify app yet, then you can try an app like this one. This way you can import the reviews from AliExpress so you can then import them to your review app.

The paid Shopify app option

You need to make this decision yourself, because of the different designs and options each review app has.

I will give you a few app options below. If you don’t know which one to choose, then you could always opt-in for the trials and see what looks the best on your dropshipping store!

1. Loox

The first best paid Shopify review app is Loox.

Best Shopify App For Dropshipping Beginners: Loox
Source: Loox -- Shopify App Store

You already saw this app in the examples above from Life Booster Shop.

Remember that review page?

Happy Customers Page - showcase all your reviews and images

Yes, that’s made with Loox.

Also, if you want to, you can import reviews from AliExpress with Loox.

1-Click Reviews Import from AliExpress with Loox

The price of Loox starts at $9.99 per month. Which gives you 100 monthly review request emails

2. Ali Reviews

In case you’re dropshipping from AliExpress and you want to import product reviews from AliExpress, then Ali Reviews a great Shopify app for you.

Best Shopify App For Dropshipping Beginners: Ali Reviews

The price starts at $9 per month, which probably got enough features for you.

You can also take the free option, but this will display a logo of Ali Reviews. Your customers can click on that to see what the app is about. I don’t think you want that, right?

These were, in my opinion, the best two paid Shopify review apps, but if you want to see more options, then I suggest going to the Shopify app store and typing ‘Product Reviews’.

Which Shopify app to choose when you’re just beginning with dropshipping?

In most cases the free option, until you get some sales and start growing.

This way you can use the paid review app to its fullest potentials and ask your past customers for reviews!

But if you’re going, to begin with dropshipping from AliExpress and you want to start with importing reviews from there, then beginning with the paid Shopify app Ali Reviews might be a great idea for you.

6. FAQ Page

Best Shopify app for dropshipping beginners 6: Frequently Asked Questions page

Some Shopify apps are great on their own and don’t need any comparison with other free or paid apps. The rest of the list will only consist of one or two options, but most options will be free to use at the beginning of your dropshipping journey!

To start off, a great way to build more trust with your store visitors is to have a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page on your store.

This could also save you in customer service time in the near future.

A great free app to build a FAQ page on your dropshipping store is HelpCenter.

If you want to learn more ways to make the customer service at your dropshipping store less work, then I suggest reading my article here.

7. Email Marketing

Did you know that every $1 spent on email marketing earns $40? That’s the biggest ROI among marketing channels so far.

That’s why email marketing is something you should definitely try to implement into your dropshipping business.

The only problem is that there are a lot of email marketing Shopify apps and services.

And even one popular email marketing service, Mail Chimp, decided to stop supporting the integration with Shopify.

So, which email marketing service should you choose for your dropshipping store in 2020?

I suggest you take a look at Omnisend.

Best Shopify App For Dropshipping Beginners: Omnisend
Screenshot of their homepage

You can send up to 15,000 emails per month for free!

That’s awesome, right?

And in case you need more (when you’re growing and growing your dropshipping store), then you can always change to a paid plan which includes marketing automation and even more features.

They also have a lot of features that you will need for your dropshipping store like sending emails to people who left their cart without making any purchase.

You can read here why abandoned cart emails are so powerful and how to do it. They also included some awesome cart abandonment email examples in that article.

You can find this part on their homepage

In addition to that, you will be able to use free signup forms, A/B testing for emails, discount codes, and see in-depth each campaign results (number of orders per campaign, as well as money generated).

If you want to learn more about Omnisend, then I suggest the video below:

Another Shopify app that I suggest you take a look at when you want to bring your email marketing to the next level is Relevon.

Relevon removes the time spent on content creation, and it’s beginner-friendly if just starting out with email marketing.

You can create dynamic newsletters like New Arrivals, Bestsellers, or Trending and schedule them to run recurringly on a weekly or monthly basis in just a few minutes!

The Relevon algorithm is based on browse and purchase behavior, so the content is fresh every single time an email is sent out.

Here are some more amazing features from Relevon:

Screenshot from inside the Shopify App Store

Alright, here is one more example from them where you can see how every customer will get a personalized profile:

Looks awesome, right?

The current pricing of Relevon depends on how many Shopify contacts you have that provided an email address and accepted marketing; the lowest monthly plan will start at $9 per month:

You can click here to see their latest pricing

The great thing is that they provide you with a free 14-day trial so you can check it out with no strings attached!

8. GDPR Compliance

11. Mobile Ready

You know what they say, make your store ready for mobile visitors.

You will see that a lot of your visitors are on their mobile.

So, a great way to be ready for these mobile visitors is to install the Mobile Converter app from Beeketing.

Best Shopify App For Dropshipping Beginners: Mobile Converter
Screenshot of their homepage

Mobile Converter got a lot of great features that help you be “mobile-ready”.

Some features are:

  1. Amazing blog and superb apps which can really help in boosting Shopify sale and like all these apps I would also like to recommend one Shopify app with the help of which the customers can pre-order their favorite product and the admin will also get the orders even after the product is out of stock. The name of this Shopify app is Advanced pre-Order. This Shopify app is also having lots of other exciting features.

    • Hi! Thanks for your comment 🙂

Your Shopify app suggestion definitely looks good for people that are dropshipping from one supplier and that supplier runs out of a certain product, but most dropshippers will have multiple or backup dropshipping suppliers though!
