Why should you put any effort into coming over as a trustworthy store instead of putting the bare minimum into your store?
Well, this is what a study on online shopping habits has to say about it:
95% of consumers have security concerns about providing personal information like their credit card when shopping at websites they have not heard of before, and 92% of consumers have concerns about providing personal information like their credit card when shopping at websites they have not shopped at in the past.
So that means that almost all visitors on your little unknown dropshipping store don’t trust you.

9 Ways to Build Trust in a Dropshipping Store in 2020!
Now that you understand how important trust is, it’s time to learn to increase it.
This way, you will surely see more sales.
Because, as you read above, people don’t trust stores they never heard of before.
So what to change?
1. Add all the default eCommerce store pages
I can’t stress this one enough in my blog posts.
If I can put a number on it, then I think around 70% of the new dropshipping stores out there don’t have the default eCommerce store pages…
That’s absurd, don’t you think?
Yeah, some might have a few, but you will rarely see a dropshipping store with all the pages.
Below you will find the pages that you could create right now.

- Legal Notice
The other pages that you should put some effort into are:
- Contact page
- About page
- FAQ page (More about having a FAQ page on the next step)
- Collections page
- Homepage (Click here to get inspiration from the homepages from other successful dropshipping stores)
Please put some effort into creating these pages and properly displaying them on your dropshipping store.
2. Add a FAQ page to address the most common questions
Guess what most customers that contact you have in common?
They have questions!
So, what you can do is create a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page on your store.
You will answer the most important questions on this page, like how long order processing takes.
And you can even link to your FAQ page on your contact page!
An FAQ page is there as well for people that have questions but don’t want to contact you.
Having a place in your store that you answer questions could be a great way to relieve the worries people have before ordering with you.

3. Put time into your dropshipping store
Do you know how many people are learning about dropshipping and starting dropshipping stores right now?
For example, type in Google Trends “Dropshipping”.
Do you see how popular dropshipping is?
Everyone wants a piece of it because so many of these “guru’s” advertised it as an easy way to earn money online. (Source)
But do you know what the sad thing is?
Most of them don’t put any effort into their dropshipping store.
They open their store, import some products without changing anything, and start advertising.
Do you see the simple design of this store?
Anybody can put this online store together and start selling the next day.
So taking some time to make your dropshipping store stand out, not only helps you with beating your competition, but it will also help you gain more trust with your visitors!
Because why would people trust a store that looks like it’s been designed by a six-year-old?
Also, most people fail with their dropshipping store because they are not unique.

4. Add Trust Badges
There are people that will abandon their cart if they have security concerns.
Trust badges are there to increase the trust your store visitors have in your store.

You can add trust badges to your product, cart, and checkout page.

5. Add Social Proof
One study found that 88% of consumers trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations, and 72% of consumers say positive reviews make them trust businesses more.
Millennials, in particular, trust user-generated content 50% more than other media.
The problem is that customers are more likely to share bad experiences than good ones.

6. Be available for customer inquiries
Please treat your customer as a king (or queen).
I will start by showing you some screenshots of what will happen to your dropshipping store if you don’t treat your customers right:

And this one is from a dropshipping store called HYGO Shop.
I also included this dropshipping store in my best dropshipping store examples article, but I see now that they are also getting a lot of negative reviews.
Alright, now you know that your customers can make or break your dropshipping business.
So, how to make your customers happy?
Firstly, always try to be as polite and understanding as possible when you reply to a customer with questions or demands.
Secondly, spend your time building a store where you look first at what the customer wants and not what your pockets want.
Sounds easy, right?
It could be, but a lot of people just don’t care about their customers.
And then you will see more of these 1-star review pages appear.

7. Detailed Product Descriptions
Do you think your store visitors will trust you if you got a product description like this:

Maybe some will still purchase from you, but the majority will be like “What is the product about?”.
They will have so many questions that there is a high chance that they will leave your dropshipping store and never return.

8. Create detailed product images and think about adding real people
This will be the same as with the product descriptions above.

The first one, which is just normally looking, or the second one where you can see that someone really put time into it to make the image look great?
I don’t think I need to say the answer, but indeed the second one!

Adding real people to your product images
Another great tip is adding real people to your product images.
For example, human photos with a focus on the face have a much better impact (as emotional connect is stronger) (Source)
I just got two things to note for this one:
- Don’t just use stock photos. There is a high chance that people will recognize that these are stock photos.
- Get permissions. For example, don’t just copy a picture with a person from your supplier. Make sure you have permission to use that picture!

So your goal is to create content that gives information for free.
Something like my blog if it has a goal of selling you something (think about a course…)

The same goes for your dropshipping store.
A great way to start with content marketing, and getting free traffic is to create a blog on your dropshipping store.
Doing this is great to show that you have knowledge inside the niche that you’re selling in, and it’s great to keep your visitors longer on your dropshipping store.
