Most product research tools out there cost money, but what if you don’t have the budget for that yet? What if you want to get a few sales on your dropshipping store first before you invest in one of these tools? If that’s you, then you’re in luck! I got a list of the 8 best free product research tools that you can use while dropshipping!

Just to note, there is more than just doing product research with tools like this. If you’re on a budget and you want to learn more about doing product research for your dropshipping store for free, then I suggest reading my other article here as well!

Should You Use a Paid or a Free Product Research Tool When Dropshipping?

I said this before, but you don’t need a product research tool for your product research.

In case you don’t know, product research is the process that you research what kind of products are best to sell in your store. Most likely, these are products that are selling a lot.

Although I won’t deny that product research tools could definitely save you time and give you a lot of inspiration for the product research part.

But the problem is that most of these tools cost you a monthly payment.

And most people that are starting with dropshipping don’t have much money available.

That’s why I created this list with the 8 best free product research tools.

You’re probably thinking “free”? Are you sure?

Yes, I’m sure! No need to pay anything.

Although there is one thing to note, I will separate this article into two parts.

One part will be for completely free product research tools, and the other part will contain paid product research tools, but these paid ones do have the option to get a free account or free trial.

I included these paid product research tools because they can be really powerful, but if your money is tight, then you can use their free account options or their 7/14 days free trials!

Plus, don’t forget that you can cancel these trials and signup for a different product research tool trial on this list.

Awesome, right?

5 Completely Free Product Research Tools for Your Dropshipping Store

If you’re ready, then let’s get started with the completely free dropshipping product research tools!

These tools will help you with your product research for free.

1) AliExpress Dropshipping Center

Let’s start this one with the most famous one, but unfortunately, not everyone knows about it yet.

It’s the AliExpress Dropshipping Center!

Free Dropshipping Product Research Tool: AliExpress Dropshipping Center

This tool is inside AliExpress and is specially created for AliExpress dropshippers.

In case you don’t know anything about the AliExpress Dropshipping Center or you don’t know how to enable it on your AliExpress account, then I suggest reading my other article here.

The great thing about it is that it’s free to use and it gives you some basic product research options!

2) Thieve.co

Free Dropshipping Product Research Tool: Thieve.co

The next free product research tool is called Thieve. They show you what’s trending right now on AliExpress.

It will give you a lot of inspiration for your product research!

All you have to do is signup for a free account with them, and they show you some pretty awesome products from AliExpress!

Furthermore, you can even sort the products by a category, so you can see find products inside your niche (if you have a dropshipping niche store):

Curious how it looks now? Awesome!

Below you will find an example of the first products that you will see if you sort by homeware and click on trending products:

At first, they only had a free version available, but now they also have a dropshipping version available.

It’s called Thieve Supply, but it costs money so I won’t cover it further in this article. However, if you want to learn more about it, then you can click here.

3) Asify

Free Dropshipping Product Research Tool: Asify

Asify is a Chrome extension that you can download for free here.

It will add a lot of stuff for you to AliExpress. You could say that it looks a bit like the AliExpress Dropshipping Center, but with this tool, you will get a lot of extra information on the AliExpress product page itself.

It’s a tool made by Nicolas Rose, and it’s as I said above, it’s completely free to use.

The only thing is that you will need to use it on a browser that uses the Chrome Web Store.

If you want to learn more about Asify, then I suggest checking out this video from James Beattie:

4) Commerce Inspector

Free Dropshipping Product Research Tool: Commerce Inspector

The next free tool on this list is called Commerce Inspector.

They do have a paid plan available, but what I’m referring to is their free Chrome Extension.

They will show you the best selling and newly listed products of a store:

This example (the images) is from Bluecrate

They also integrated with the Facebook Ad Library so you can see their ads:

Plus, they will show you what apps that store is using:

If you want to learn more about the Commerce Inspector, then I suggest going to their website here.

5) Turbo Ad Finder

Next up is a great little tool that will help you do product research on Facebook.

It’s called Turbo Ad Finder, and you can install it here on the Chrome Web Store.

I guess you can guess already what this tool does, but if you can’t, no worries!

If you activate this tool and go to Facebook, then it will only show you Facebook Ads. It will filter out all the other posts. Just take a look at this video from them:

How to use the Turbo Facebook Ad Finder Chrome Extension

You could combine this tool with the product research method from Franklin Hatchett:

Dropshipping Product Research Tutorial: Find The BEST eCommerce Products In 2020!

This way, you will have a great chance to see ads on your Facebook feed from other dropshipping stores!

Do keep in mind that you don’t have to do this via his “Facebook Pixel hack”. You can also get more ads from dropshipping stores by showing Facebook that you’re interested in them.

For example, by liking all the dropshipping ads or posts you see, and going to their dropshipping stores and adding their products to your cart. This way, you’re showing Facebook that you’re highly interested in these kinds of products!

And do you know what Facebook will do then?

They will show you more ads that are related to that in the hope that you purchase them!

3 Paid Product Research Tools That Have a Free Account or Trial Available

Now that you saw the best free tools that will help you with your product research, it’s time to move on to the paid product research tools.

I only included a few paid product research tools, because not every product research tool lets you create a free account or gives you a free trial without charging any money!

1) Niche Scraper

Paid Product Research Tools That Have a Free Account or Trial Available: Niche Scraper

I added Niche Scraper as number one here because they allow you to create a completely free account, which you can keep for as long as you want.

However, if you’re looking for more features, then you will need to upgrade your account, but their free account option is great to use if you don’t have a big budget yet!

This is what you will get with their free for life plan:

If you’re interested in learning more about Niche Scraper, then I suggest reading my review that I linked to below.

2) Ecomhunt

Paid Product Research Tools That Have a Free Account or Trial Available: Ecomhunt

The next product research tool is called Ecomhunt.

Most of you that are reading this article probably already know this tool, but I thought it was still worth mentioning!

Ecomhunt tries to add a few so-called “winning products” each day.

The great thing about Ecomhunt is that they got an option, just like Niche Scraper, to create a free account. Although it will have some limited features again:

But I don’t think you care that much about limited features if your budget is tight!

If you’re interested in learning more about Ecomhunt, then I suggest reading my review that I linked to below.

3) Sell The Trend

Paid Product Research Tools That Have a Free Account or Trial Available: Sell The Trend

And the last paid product research tool on this list with a free account/trial option is called Sell The Trend.

Although I highly recommend Sell The Trend on this blog, I didn’t put it on number 1, because they don’t offer a free account option like Niche Scraper or Ecomhunt!

They do give you a free 7-day trial, which you can cancel anytime, so you don’t pay any money. The great thing about their trial is that you can use the full product research tool that whole week! No limitations.

Sell The Trend does a lot, for example, take a look at the image below:

My name is Richard, and I created Do Dropshipping after I saw so many paid dropshipping courses popping up. The goal of Do Dropshipping is to put these “gurus” out of business by giving everyone access to the information that they need to start their own dropshipping business today. No more paid dropshipping courses!
