Looking for current Shein statistics?

The numbers became much easier to verify in 2026 because Shein finally published detailed financial data for its Hong Kong listing. We can now see its revenue, profit, and customer count from formal company reporting.

The prospectus and later interim results also show order volume and where the business comes from.

European regulators tell a different part of the story. They have fined or investigated Shein over cookies and discounts.

Other actions cover environmental claims, consumer protection, and product controls.

So, we pulled together 22 Shein statistics that cover both sides of the company: its scale and the scrutiny around it.

Each figure below is tied to a specific period and source, so you can separate audited financial data from official regulator records and Shein's own reporting.

8 key Shein statistics (editor's picks)

If you only remember a few numbers, start here.

These eight cover Shein's business scale and recent performance. They also cover EU reach, the largest verified fine in this article, and current supplier-audit data.

1. Shein generated $41.847 billion in net revenue in 2025

  • The key takeaway: Older Shein revenue figures were often estimates. You can now use the company's Hong Kong prospectus instead.

Shein reported $41.847 billion in net revenue for 2025, up 8% from $38.748 billion in 2024.

The prospectus also reports $32.103 billion in 2023, so revenue increased by nearly $10 billion over those two years.

Growth slowed over the same period, though. Revenue rose 20.7% in 2024 before the increase narrowed to 8% in 2025.

2. Shein reported $2.064 billion in net income in 2025

  • The key takeaway: Revenue kept rising, but profit moved the other way. Shein's size alone doesn't tell you how the business performed.

The Hong Kong prospectus reports net income of $2.064 billion for 2025, down from $3.365 billion in 2024.

Shein's net margin was 4.9% in 2025, compared with 8.7% in 2024.

That is a useful number to keep beside the revenue figure. The company got bigger in 2025 while its reported bottom-line profitability fell.

3. Shein reached about 291 million active customers in the 12 months to June 2026

  • The key takeaway: If you still picture Shein as a niche fashion site, 291 million active customers changes that picture. It operates at mass-market scale.

Shein's latest interim-results update says active customers reached approximately 291 million for the 12 months ended June 30, 2026, up from 254 million a year earlier.

For calendar 2025, Shein reported approximately 273 million active customers across roughly 160 markets.

The prospectus defines active customers as people who placed an order during the period. That makes this a much tighter measure than website visits or app users.

4. Shein handled about 1.078 billion orders in 2025

  • The key takeaway: If you're trying to judge how much shopping actually happens on Shein, the order count is more useful than app downloads.

According to Shein's Hong Kong prospectus, customers placed about 1.078 billion orders in 2025.

The same filing reports roughly four orders per active customer for the year.

Use the order count when you want a better measure of shopping activity than app downloads alone.

5. Shein reported $20.1 billion in net revenue for the first half of 2026

  • The key takeaway: Shein kept adding orders in the first half of 2026, but revenue barely moved. More shopping activity did not translate into equally fast sales growth.

On September 28, 2026, Shein's investor-relations site reported $20.1 billion in net revenue for the first half of 2026.

The same update reports 549 million orders, up 6.4% year over year, while net revenue grew 1%.

This is an interim period, not a full-year result, so don't compare the $20.1 billion figure directly with a full 12 months of 2025 revenue.

6. Europe generated 35.4% of Shein's 2025 revenue

  • The key takeaway: The US doesn't represent the whole business. Europe contributed a larger share of 2025 revenue.

Shein's prospectus reports $14.802 billion of 2025 net revenue from Europe, equal to 35.4% of the total.

The US contributed $10.101 billion, equal to 24.1% of the total.

The rest of the world contributed $16.944 billion, or 40.5%.

If you're judging Shein from US headlines alone, those numbers are a useful correction.

Most of its revenue came from outside the US.

7. Shein listed in Hong Kong on September 1, 2026

  • The key takeaway: Shein is now a public company. That gives you far more official financial information than was available when it was private.

Shein's investor-relations page records its Hong Kong Stock Exchange debut on September 1, 2026 under stock code 00625.

The August 24 prospectus covered a global offering of 279,992,500 Class B shares.

For a statistics article, the practical change is bigger than the listing itself.

Revenue and profit now have a formal public-company source.

The same is true for customer and order figures.

8. Shein reported 127.9 million average monthly active users in the EU

  • The key takeaway: The EU figure shows enormous reach, but don't confuse it with paying customers. Shein's DSA definition includes people who browse or interact with the platform.

Shein's Digital Services Act disclosure says it averaged 127.9 million monthly active users across EU member states from February 1 through July 31, 2026.

Shein says this measure can include people who browse or buy. It can also include people who interact with content or add an item to a cart.

That makes it a regulatory reach figure rather than a count of 127.9 million EU buyers.

Shein's business growth at a glance

The first four statistics are easier to read side by side.

This table uses the same prospectus figures rather than mixing in older third-party estimates:

Metric202320242025
Net revenue$32.103B$38.748B$41.847B
Net income$2.789B$3.365B$2.064B
Active customers186M230M273M
Total orders715M919M1.078B
Do Dropshipping summary from Shein's Hong Kong prospectus.

The direction is clear: Shein added customers and orders quickly, while revenue growth slowed and 2025 net income fell.

The newer interim results put active customers at about 291 million for the 12 months ended June 30, 2026.

The next figures move away from headline business size and into the parts shoppers usually can't see from the storefront.

They cover regulation, product controls, supplier audits, resale, and sustainability.

Fines and EU regulation

9. France's CNIL fined Shein 150 million euros over cookies

  • The key takeaway: If you assumed Shein's biggest penalties were about product safety, this one is worth noticing. The largest clearly documented single fine here is a privacy penalty.

France's data-protection authority, the CNIL, fined Infinite Styles Services Co. Limited 150 million euros on September 1, 2025.

The regulator said Shein's European site failed to meet several cookie requirements.

The findings included cookies placed without consent and failures to respect user choices.

Shein has challenged the penalty, so keep the appeal status in mind if you cite the amount later.

10. France fined Shein 40 million euros after finding 57% of checked promotions had no real price reduction

  • The key takeaway: A crossed-out price isn't proof that you're saving money. Compare the current price with the price you would actually pay elsewhere.

France's DGCCRF fined Shein 40 million euros in July 2025 after examining prices and promotions across thousands of products on the French site.

Of the promotions checked, 57% offered no price reduction. Another 19% offered a smaller reduction than advertised, while 11% were actually price increases.

The investigation ran from October 1, 2022 to August 31, 2023.

Those percentages describe that sample and period, not every Shein promotion today.

11. The EU opened formal DSA proceedings against Shein on February 17, 2026

  • The key takeaway: If you see a headline treating the DSA case as a final ruling, that's too strong. The EU is still investigating several parts of how Shein operates.

The European Commission opened formal Digital Services Act proceedings against Shein on February 17, 2026.

The investigation covers Shein's systems for limiting illegal products, risks linked to addictive design, and transparency around recommender systems.

No DSA fine is implied by the opening of proceedings.

12. Italy fined Shein 1 million euros over environmental claims

  • The key takeaway: When you're reading Shein's sustainability numbers, keep the source attached. They're company reporting, and Italy has challenged some of Shein's green claims.

Italy's competition authority, the AGCM, fined Infinite Styles Services Co. Ltd 1 million euros on August 4, 2025.

The authority said several environmental messages were vague, misleading, or left out important context.

It also said Shein's emissions-reduction messaging was contradicted by an increase in the company's greenhouse gas emissions in 2023 and 2024.

13. All 27 products for children under three in one EU mystery-shopping test were non-compliant

  • The key takeaway: The result is serious, but the sample was targeted and small. Don't turn 27 products into a claim about Shein's entire catalog.

During the February 17, 2026 Commission briefing, an EU spokesperson said mystery shopping had tested 27 products for children under three on Shein, and all 27 were non-compliant with EU law.

The Commission used the result to explain its DSA investigation into illegal products.

Non-compliance does not automatically mean every product was dangerous. It means the selected products failed the applicable EU requirements in that test.

There is also a separate consumer-protection case.

The EU's Consumer Protection Cooperation Network notified Shein in May 2025 about practices it assessed as infringing EU consumer law, including fake discounts and pressure selling.

The Commission's current page says Shein remains under investigation.

A timeline of Shein's recent EU regulatory record

Do Dropshipping-compiled from the regulators linked in this article. The June 2026 entry is based on Reuters reporting because we did not find a directly retrievable primary DGCCRF notice for that action.

France's July 2025 and September 2025 fines total 190 million euros from primary regulator decisions.

Reuters reported roughly another 22 million euros in French penalties in June 2026, which Shein said it would contest.

Supplier audits and product controls

14. Shein conducted 4,822 on-site SRS audits in China in 2025

  • The key takeaway: If you're comparing Shein's audit count year over year, 4,822 is the current figure. It's still company-reported oversight of Shein's own supplier system.

Shein's 2025 Canadian Supply Chains Act report says it conducted 4,822 annual on-site Supplier Responsibility Standards audits on existing suppliers and subcontractors in China.

That was up from 4,288 audits in 2024.

Shein says third-party auditors conducted all 2025 on-site SRS audits of existing suppliers and subcontractors in China.

Shein still reports the results through its own disclosures.

15. Contract-manufacturer audits covered 96.3% of Shein-branded procurement value in 2025

  • The key takeaway: For you, the scope is the important part. The 96.3% figure covers Shein-branded procurement, not every third-party marketplace listing.

The same supply-chain disclosure says 4,111 audits covered 3,581 contract manufacturers that represented 96.3% of Shein-branded product procurement value in 2025.

The report separately lists another 711 audits of fabric suppliers, packaging suppliers, and subcontractors.

Keep the scope attached to the percentage: it is about Shein-branded procurement, not the whole marketplace.

16. A or B supplier audit grades rose to 53% in 2025

  • The key takeaway: If you compare Shein's audit grades year over year, the direction improved. Shein still owns the grading system.

According to Shein's 2025 supply-chain report, 53% of SRS audits resulted in an A or B grade, up from 47% in 2024.

At the other end of the scale, D or E grades fell from 8% to 6%.

17. Shein reported 23 immediate remediation violations in 2025

  • The key takeaway: Don't stop at the 0.4% rate. Look at the 23 violations too, then check what Shein says happened afterward.

Shein's 2025 disclosure says it identified immediate remediation violations in 0.4% of audits.

The company reported 23 individual IRVs during the year and no immediate termination violations.

Shein says the IRVs were either remediated within the required timeline or led to termination of the supplier relationship.

18. Shein says it conducted more than 2 million product safety tests in 2024

  • The key takeaway: Two million tests tell you Shein has a large testing program. It does not turn company-commissioned testing into a regulatory verdict.

Shein reported more than 2 million product safety tests in 2024 across its product-safety program.

The company says testing involved Intertek and SGS.

It also worked with Bureau Veritas and TรœV, as well as a CNAS-accredited laboratory.

Shein later announced a target of 2.5 million safety and quality tests for 2025. We are not using that target as a completed 2025 result.

19. Shein says it had deployed more than $42 million through its supplier empowerment program by the end of 2025

  • The key takeaway: If you're tracking whether audits are paired with supplier investment, watch this number. Shein says it had deployed more than $42 million by the end of 2025.

A February 2026 Shein update says its Supplier Community Empowerment Program had deployed more than $42 million by the end of 2025.

Shein says more than 200 supplier factories had undergone renovation or modernization through the program, covering about 518,000 square meters.

The company also says those upgraded sites directly benefited about 33,600 workers.

These are company-reported program figures.

Resale and sustainability

20. Shein Exchange added more than 3.48 million new users in 2025

  • The key takeaway: If you're interested in Shein's resale push, Exchange added millions of new users in one year, according to the company.

Shein's Our Group page says Shein Exchange added more than 3.48 million new users in 2025.

Shein Exchange is the company's peer-to-peer resale platform for pre-owned products.

This is company-reported platform data, so use it as a measure of Shein's own resale program rather than an independently audited market-share figure.

21. Shein says 85.1% of electricity purchased for its own operations came from renewable sources in 2025

  • The key takeaway: If you see the 85.1% figure quoted, keep the scope with it. It refers to electricity purchased for Shein's own operations.

Shein's 2025 environmental disclosure says 85.1% of electricity purchased for its own operations came from renewable sources, up from 76% in 2024.

The company reported 275,723.2 MWh of total electricity consumption across globally managed operations in 2025.

The scope matters because Shein says most of its carbon footprint sits outside direct operations in its wider value chain.

22. Recycled material made up 9.2% of the polyester Shein directly sourced for branded products in 2025

  • The key takeaway: When you see the 9.2% figure, keep the scope attached. It covers polyester Shein directly sourced for branded products.

Shein's Planet disclosure says 9.2% of polyester directly sourced for Shein-branded products in 2025 was recycled, up from 6.7% in 2024.

Of that recycled polyester, Shein says 13.4% was textile-to-textile recycled material.

Read this as a company-reported materials figure.

It covers directly sourced polyester for Shein-branded products, not every material sold across the marketplace.

What these Shein statistics tell you

  • The Hong Kong prospectus replaced estimates with formal company figures. Shein reported $41.847 billion in 2025 net revenue and 1.078 billion orders, while its latest interim results put active customers at about 291 million.
  • Recent performance is mixed. Revenue rose in 2025 while net income fell. In the first half of 2026, revenue grew 1% while orders rose 6.4%.
  • Europe generated more revenue in 2025 than the US. Europe contributed 35.4% of revenue, and Shein reported 127.9 million average monthly EU users in its latest DSA window.
  • Regulatory pressure is real. Shein has faced large privacy and consumer-protection fines, plus open EU investigations that should not be mistaken for final findings.
  • Most supplier and sustainability figures come from Shein itself. They are useful for tracking the company's own progress, but keep that source type attached when you cite them.

If you're using one of these numbers elsewhere, copy the date and scope with it.

A trailing-12-month customer count, a six-month EU user figure, and a 2024 product-safety count answer three different questions.

Questions about Shein statistics

How much revenue does Shein make?

Shein reported $41.847 billion in net revenue for 2025, up 8% from $38.748 billion in 2024. Its September 2026 investor update also reported $20.1 billion in net revenue for the first half of 2026.

How many customers does Shein have?

Shein reported approximately 291 million active customers for the 12 months ended June 30, 2026, up from 254 million a year earlier.

For calendar 2025, it reported about 273 million active customers across roughly 160 markets. Do not confuse these customer figures with Shein's broader EU monthly-active-user count.

How many orders does Shein process?

Shein's Hong Kong prospectus reports about 1.078 billion orders in 2025. Its first-half 2026 update reports 549 million orders for the six months ended June 30, up 6.4% year over year.

Has Shein been fined in Europe?

Yes. France's CNIL fined Shein 150 million euros over cookie-consent failures in September 2025, France's DGCCRF imposed a 40 million euro fine in July 2025 over misleading discounts and environmental claims, and Italy's AGCM imposed a 1 million euro greenwashing fine in August 2025.

Reuters also reported about 22 million euros in additional French penalties in June 2026, which Shein said it would contest.

Is Shein under EU investigation?

Yes. The European Commission opened formal Digital Services Act proceedings against Shein on February 17, 2026.

Separately, the EU Consumer Protection Cooperation Network says the EU is still investigating Shein over consumer-law practices. An open investigation is not a final finding or fine.

Conclusion

Shein used to be unusually hard to size because the company was private and many widely quoted figures were estimates. The Hong Kong listing changed that.

We now have formal figures for revenue and profit, plus newer customer and order data from its interim reporting.

Put those beside Shein's regional data and supply-chain disclosures, then add the regulator record.

The picture is clearer: very large commercial scale, much better financial transparency, and continued scrutiny over how the platform operates.

For the next update, we'd watch full-year 2026 revenue and profit first.

The next EU user disclosure and any final outcomes from the open European investigations matter too.
